cadennce is a personal running analytics app operated by Theo Wecker ("cadennce", "we", "us"). It exists to show you your own running data, clearly. This page explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We keep it plain on purpose, but it is the authoritative description of how we handle your data.
Who we are
cadennce is an independent project, not a large company. There is one operator, and you can reach a real person any time at theo@theowecker.com. cadennce is not intended for anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.
What we collect
- Account details: your email address and password (passwords are stored hashed, never in plain text), and an optional display name.
- Profile and health-related details you choose to add, such as unit preference, time zone, home area, birthdate, sex, body weight, and heart-rate settings. This data is optional, powers your training calculations, and is yours to edit or clear at any time.
- Your running activities: distance, time, pace, heart rate, elevation, GPS routes and location, and similar data, whether you import a file or connect a service.
- Basic technical data needed to run and secure the app, such as your approximate time zone, browser type, and IP address, and limited error diagnostics when something goes wrong.
Some of this is sensitive (health-related metrics and precise location). You decide what to add, and you can remove it.
Connecting Strava or Garmin
Connecting a service is optional. When you connect one, you sign in on that provider's own website (we never see your Strava or Garmin password), and you grant cadennce permission to read your activities. We then import only your own activities to display back to you.
We never share one athlete's data with another, and we do not sell data or use it to train machine-learning models. If you disconnect a service, or revoke access from the provider's side, we delete the activities we synced from it.
How we use your data
We use your data only to run the app for you: to display your runs, compute your training metrics, show your history, keep your account secure, and respond when you contact us. Your activities are private to your account unless you explicitly choose to share a run, which creates a public link that you control and can revoke.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it for advertising. We rely on a small number of infrastructure providers (for hosting, error monitoring, and maps) that process data only as needed to keep the app running. We may also disclose data if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or security of our users, the public, or cadennce. When you share a run, only the details on that run's public page are visible to anyone with the link.
Retention
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we remove your activities and personal data, though limited information may remain in backups or logs for a short period, or where we are required to keep it by law.
Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit and hashed passwords. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, however, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, and you use the app understanding that risk.
Your choices
You can edit or clear your profile at any time, disconnect a service, or delete your account entirely, which removes your activities and personal data. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to access, correct, or export your data. To exercise any of these, email theo@theowecker.com and we will help.
Changes
If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we will update the date at the top of this page. Questions are always welcome at theo@theowecker.com.
